Harold Ruvoldt cause of death, age, wife, children, funeral
As a trial and appellate lawyer, Harold had a lengthy and illustrious career. He served as a partner at AmLaw 200 and small firms in New York and New Jersey.
In addition to his private business, he performed civic duties as the prosecutor for Hudson County, the counsel for Hudson County, and the counsel for Jersey City.
He was a brilliant and imaginative litigator. One of his major triumphs was initiating and winning the Robinson v. Cahill lawsuit, which changed New Jersey’s public school funding. He instructed students on ethics and trial techniques.
Harold loved spending time with friends and traveling the world. He was an eager mentor, a prolific writer, and an excellent golfer.
He spent several years sailing the ocean, baking, and scuba diving among his numerous interests.

Harold died from old age.
He was 81.
His devoted wife Marie “Scotty” Egan Ruvoldt passed away before him.
He was adored by his children Maria and Margaret Ruvoldt, cherished by his grandchildren Jack Malamud, Alec, Zhana, and Hilary Hoffman, and cherished by his sons-in-law Jason and Darren List. In addition, Harold was a loving great-uncle to Patrick Casteneda and Carly Campoli and a kind uncle to Alison and Jim Campoli.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Therese Catholic Church at 10AM on Thursday, September 21, 2023. Friends may visit the Barrett Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 from 4 to 8 PM at 148 Dean Drive in Tenafly, New Jersey.
